Creating a podcast and posting it

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

If you are interested in creating your own podcast please follow the instructions below:

1) Firstly you will need some software to record the podcast. I used Audacity which is a really simple and fun piece of software http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

2) Due to a strange technicality Audacity cannot offer free software to record in MP3 format. There is an easy solution as Audacity provides a quick line to download the appropriate add on. Again, it is just a matter of hitting download http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3

3) Once you have recorded your podcasts you will need webspace to publish them. Podbean offers plenty of space and is incredibly user friendly. Just follow the link http://www.podbean.com/

4) If you do fancy having your podcasts available on iTunes Podbean prepares a link for you which you simply submit. This can be found in the Dashboard options on your website. This does sound a little bit tricky but it is actually incredibly simple.

This is just one way of doing this. I have also come across the following websites which you might want to take a look at:

www.feedburner.com

www.kudlian.net

www.podomatic.com

www.podiumpodcasting.com

www.gabcast.com

Happy podcasting!

Introduction to the site -

Monday, February 12th, 2007

I am a PGCE student at Leicester University and I’m exploring the uses of ICT in primary schools. In particular, I am looking at creating podcast book reviews by children for children. I’m not looking to create anything too complicated, just something fun and simple so children can tell others about the books they love and maybe even the ones they hate!
